For Children: The Power of the Pen
The Power of the Pen is a 6-week enrichment opportunity for students in grades 3-5 who like to write or think they would like to try their hand at it.
Students will make a hardcover book from fancy papers, illustrate its pages with different stamping techniques, explore the world and power of poetry and sample writing some poems of our own.
Their teacher will be Barbara Bald from Alton. NH. Barbara was a teacher at Gilford Middle School for 22 years. She has been perfecting her own poetry at the Frost Place in Franconia, NH for 10 summers, was a free-lance writer for the magazine “Heart of NH” and “New Hampshire To Do” and is a published poet with her newest books entitled Drive-Through Window and Running on Empty.
For Adults: Creative Writing/Poetry
This 6-week course is designed for persons who like to write (or think they would). We will focus on using strategies that jump-start creative ideas and techniques that strengthen writing. We’ll explore aspects of both poetry and prose and practice them with creative, voluntary homework assignments.
